4th of July

So here's the deal. Last night we went 2-1 in single plays and both chases won. Another big $$$ day! BUT we still have that pesky game 4 Reds game. I've decided to go for it. Gotta stick to your guns in chases and see them through, but you do what you feel is best. There's something about the Reds, the Great American Ballpark and the 4h of July. 2 aces going at it, Simon won't let that crowd down.

Alright everyone, here's the deal. Our Oakland and Cinci both went to game 3 and lost. We're now at game 4. The series against their respective opponents are done, but as I've done a few times in the past, I will be continuing the Oakland series, and will wait to see the result before confirming whether or not I'll keep the reds one going. Basically, for the 4th game, it'll roll over into the next series. If you have been following my chases (and cashing, might I add...) and you don't feel comfortable chasing into a new series, just eat up the loss and wait for the new series to start. I really like Oakland against Toronto, especially since they were dogs in all 3 games, we haven't lost any juice. If this one loses, I might cut my losses in the Reds series as well since their bats have been extremely cold and they meet the strong Brewers. But one game at a time. As for new series, I'll only be starting one for the Dodgers for now. Depending on how that one and Oak do, I may add more tomorrow. Understood? Hope we're all on the same page.

Week Recap

Thheeee booyssss. Another profitable week in the books. I had messed up our MLB Chase YTD in the last post, but now with the Dodgers and Orioles win last night, we are at 20-1 with over 8U in winnings, oh and we're just entering June.

NHL will be ending shortly, it's been a battle but we have rallied hard.
Our NBA book closed earlier this week. How'd we do?... Just look at our record and find out. YUP!!

May 12th 2014

As previously mentioned, we'll be closing the book on NBA soon. Games are becoming impossible to predict and I'm not a fan of what I've seen in terms of reffing and how it affects the games. Might play a few spots here and there, but won't force anything.

Boston has been the dominant team all series long and everyone expected a 7 game series. In my opinion, it shouldn't even have gotten to Game 6. They should have taken both at home as well as one on the road and ended it at home last game. Instead, they head back to Montreal. If the Habs manage to score the first goal, the trend still doesn't worry me. The Bruins will win this game and play harder as the game goes on. If it doesn't, fuck it, I'll double up on Game 7. Boston is moving on.

For Anaheim, they lost the 2 home games (albeit game 1 was in OT and they gave that one up with 7 seconds left in the 3rd, should've won it straight up) and have rallied and taken both on the road in LA. Home ice advantage means nothing in this series seeing as the two clubs are so close to eachother. I see the ducks taking this one and ending the series in LA. They are the better team. Only question mark is goaltending. Gibson was fantastic in his first start, but this doesn't mean he's invincible. He's a young goalie and if they stick with him, which they are, He'll have to forget about his first game and start fresh here again. We don't want him getting too confident after ONE NHL playoff win. It takes guts, skill and focus to win in the NHL. Hope this kid can show us more of that in tonights game.

This is what the Seahawks have worked for. To go deep into the playoffs with the 12th man on their side. And guess what, it's worked. It's their Fenway, their Old Trafford, their Death Valley. It's not just another road game when teams step out onto the field, it's the kind of place that shakes the ground beneath their feet. Teams can prepare all they want, but it's one of those places that forces an opponent back on their heels from the first whistle. It's the Seahawks last home game, win or lose. But with a trip to the SuperBowl on the line, this will be a Hawks team more ruthless and determined than we've seen all season. I wouldn't bet against them, and neither should you.

In Denver, it's a perfect day. Sunny, minimal wind, and warm. In other words, it's a perfect day for throwing the football. This is what Manning was brought to Denver to do, and he is under the perfect circumstances to produce. If the Pats want to keep it close, they'll have to put up some points too. In the NFC, yes these teams both have mean defences. But with the o/u set so low, it's the perfect opportunity for a teaser. Both quarterbacks can run just as well as they throw, and that can be difficult to stop.

Maybe this is unfair. Yes the Panthers have had a great year, but the only thing that matters in the NFL is the playoffs. Not fair, but the truth. They haven't won a playoff game since Jake Delhomme was their qb (what... exactly), and I need convincing. Kaep, as much as I despise him, has shown poise in all the playoff games that he's appeared in. And I don't believe in the argument, "The Panthers were the second seed." They have the same record, as far as I'm concerned, this is an even playing field.

Divisional Weekend - Jan 11

The Seahawks embarrassed the Saints in week 13, and that's why I like the Saints today. The second they beat the Eagles last weekend, they had their minds set on beating the Hawks. Now I'm not saying they are going to win this one, but I expect a close, intense game. No one, can get their ass handed to them and not want a second chance at redemption. This is their chance. Forget the noise, forget the #1 seed, this is a winner-take-all and I expect the Saints to come out swinging.

Some people may look at tonight's game and now want to touch the o/u. Yes it is rainy, but its mild for a January night in Boston. The cold wont be a factor, and the Patriots know how to play at home, in the rain, and put up points. And if the Colts want to keep this a close game, which they will, they'll have to match them score for score.  

BCS Championship

Last NCAA play this season, it has been a good ride, lets end it on a high note.

This is it. We can go over stats, ponder over the spread, second guess match-ups, and try and predict the outcome.... but when it's a championship game, all those things go out the window. Why is this not your typical write-up? Because it's not your typical game. Season stats, records, and Heisman trophies mean nothing. I truly believe when rings are on the line, it all comes down to that intangible factor that no analysis can predict. Heart.
This isn't a science, it's not a code that cappers can crack. The season is a grind where the best in the business can get an inside track, sure. But not winner-take-all games. That's the beauty of sports; anything can happen. It just depends on who wants it more.
